How Much Does Good Dog Training Really Cost?
When recently discussing a training program with a potential client we discussed what dog training really costs them. Funny enough, it was the prospect that that came up with that math topic on the phone all by herself because she realized the value of dog training…
Anyways, they called me because their dog who has basic training already just didn’t seem to listen when it was really important to them.
They were really concerned about their dog’s safety when they were hiking or even playing in a field. Worried that their dog could take off and run in front of a car or chase after wild life.
They shared how playing with their dog sometimes was more frustrating than anything else and how they found it is also to be frustrating to the dog.
They just couldn’t find consistent enjoyment which made dog ownership just really not what they had hoped for.
They really love their dog and all they want to do is have an enjoyable time. Hikes that are a blast without worry, play time that relaxes them after a long day and relaxing days in the sun just hanging out without a dog that’s just going to bolt after the next bird flying by.
Currently, as is, their dogs training isn't costing them money BUT in reality, not having a trained dog currently costs them:
- A lot of frustration and not being able relax in their home
- Not being able to travel with their dog as pleased and fully include them in their life
- Not being able to relax on walks and probably taking their dog out way less than they really want to
- Disappointment because they feel they dog doesn’t care as much about them as they hope it would
- Embarrassment when their dog is not behaving around visitors so they won’t have company as much as they would enjoy
As we discussed the best training option for them and how it can improve their life going from having a life where the norm is more annoyance and frustration by their dog to a life of 10-15 years of consistent enjoyment they realized that really, the best training option for them costs..
Wait for it…
LESS THAN A CUP OF COFFEE A DAY
That was it for them! Realizing how little money a day can make such a huge impact on the life they are living convinced them to commit and make the changes.
Because truth is, it’s either costing them an important part of their life OR just drinking a teeny tiny little bit less of coffee. I guess their dog sure is more important than some caffeine 🤷♀️
Is the way of life you are imagining to have with your dog worth giving up a little coffee?
